Privacy Policy

The short version: Hodari keeps your money, tasks, focus sessions and habits on your iPhone. There's no Hodari account, no advertising and no analytics. A few features need the internet, and each one is listed below with exactly what it sends.

Who we are

Hodari is an iPhone app made in Accra, Ghana. "We" means the people who make Hodari. You can reach us at hello@hodari.app.

What stays on your iPhone

Everything you put into Hodari is stored on your device, inside the app and its widgets:

• Your accounts, balances, spends, categories, budgets, bills, savings and IOUs.
• Your tasks, routine, sleep times, streaks, ranks and stamps.
• Your focus sessions and the apps you choose to block.
• Your habits, clean days, urges and check-ins.

We can't see any of it. It's included in your iPhone's own backups, as Apple handles them. Deleting Hodari deletes it from your phone.

Money alerts

Hodari only sees the alerts you choose to pass to it, through a Shortcuts automation you set up yourself, the Share sheet, or by pasting. It never has access to your other messages.

Hodari reads each alert on your phone first, using its built-in formats or Apple's on-device intelligence where your iPhone supports it.

Cloud reading (Ghana only). If your phone can't read an unfamiliar alert itself, Hodari can send that one alert's text, and the sender's name, to our reading service. The service runs on Cloudflare and uses Anthropic's Claude model to pick out the amount, the other party and your balance, then sends the result back. Nothing is stored or logged by us, and Anthropic doesn't use it to train its models. Alerts that look like one-time codes or passwords are never sent. Cloud reading isn't used outside Ghana.

Apple Pay

If you set up the Shortcuts transaction automation, iOS passes Hodari the amount, the merchant and the card name each time you pay. This stays on your phone.

Screen Time and app blocking

Focus blocking uses Apple's Screen Time framework. Apple keeps the list of apps you pick private: Hodari gets an opaque token, not the names of your apps, and none of it leaves your phone.

Focus music

Music other than the built-in Deep Focus tracks streams from our server on Cloudflare. Like any website, the request includes your IP address, which Cloudflare handles under its own privacy policy. We don't connect it to anything else about you.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple. We never see your name, card or Apple ID. Apple tells the app only whether you have Hodari Plus.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your phone. We don't run a server that sends them.

This website

hodari.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers. It's served by Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs.

Children

Hodari isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them.

Your rights

Because your data lives on your phone, you control it directly: edit or delete anything in the app, or delete the app to remove it all. If you have a question about your data or want to make a request under Ghana's Data Protection Act or any other law that applies to you, email hello@hodari.app.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your phone, we'll tell you in the app first.
